As Bentley’s sensory partners, Sensory Experiences has been working with the brand to explore how sensory science can help define the future of luxury automotive and shape a new era for Bentley.

For the all-electric Torcal, the challenge was to retain the emotion, craft and unmistakable character of Bentley while creating an entirely new kind of driving and passenger experience.

SOLUTION

Our Sensory Prescriptions® use cross-modal neuroscience to orchestrate sound, light, haptics and other sensory elements within the vehicle to elicit specific emotional states. The prescriptions informed the creative development of the Torcal’s interior UX, harmonising its sensory actors into coherent experiences, brought together and controlled through Bentley’s Curation Engine.

We developed a new sonic identity for Bentley’s electric era: the Bentley Dynamic Symphony. Rather than digitally replicating an engine, we explored the emotional DNA of Bentley’s iconic V8 and identified rhythm, variation and natural imperfection as fundamental to its character. The entire EV tone is built from live drumming and musical performance, bringing human expression into a responsive digital system.

This philosophy flows through every sound heard in the vehicle. From indicators created using a leather hammer in Bentley’s workshop, to welcome sequences composed from live performance and the resonance of Lalique crystal glass, each sound connects the digital experience back to physical materials, human performance and craft.

RESULTS

The Torcal represents a new expression of Bentley luxury, where technology, craftsmanship and sensory neuroscience combine to create an experience designed around emotion.

The approach has generated significant international press attention, with the Curation Engine and the distinctive Bentley Dynamic Symphony approach to EV sound becoming defining stories around the launch. The live-instrument sound has been particularly celebrated for bringing authenticity, emotion and human imperfection to the electric driving experience.
