Sensory Lab

Sensory Lab

The Sensory Lab in Bloomsbury is a fully controllable research and design space, equipped with dynamic lighting, surround sound, projection and scent.

We use the Lab for experiential research and events, allowing us to measure how changes in the sensory environment influence human emotion, perception and behaviour.

The space exists to advance our understanding of how sensory design shapes experience, and allows us to invite the public in, to engage with our ethos; what we see as the next frontier of human-centred design.

Alongside client-focused projects and research, we host a programme of exhibitions and events, from art installations to immersive tastings and dining experiences. These showcase our own expertise and provide a platform for new and emerging talent working in sensory design.

CAPSULE

At our Bloomsbury location, we also house Capsule, a fully controllable, self-contained research pod featuring multi-colour lighting, surround sound, projected visuals and scent diffusion.

Within Capsule, we can conduct more controlled studies, enabling deeper measurement – including EEG – to understand the precise impact of sensory stimuli.

This allows us to explore product development, sensory brand assets, brand content and communications, as well as validate Sensory Prescriptions® within a controlled environment.
